Halfway through this debate, both McCain and Obama are bloodless, lacking in anything close to detail, disjointed, and dull.
Stump speech answers and not much else.
To be selected as an audience member of this debate would be sheer punishment.
Debates don't have to be fun to be informative, but they do need something and we're getting nothing.
Neither man presented himself or his case well tonight, but in the end the advantage will probably go to Obama because he has less to lose.
There are commenters on any blog who are partisan to one party or other who could have done a better job laying out the difference.
Most memorable line: Obama-"A lot of you remember 9-11." A lot? Who doesn't?
Haha. The best part came at the end when the candidates were walking around shaking hands with audience members and all of a sudden, everyone pulled out the exact same camera and began taking pictures. Was one of the perks for having to sit motionless for an hour and a half, a gift of a yellow camera?

I thought I heard Tom Brokaw state they were 'undecided Gallup poll participants'. I'm a Gallup poll member-(faithfully do the polls about once or twice a month). Maybe next time- I'll claim 'undecided' and I can get a 'free trip'!! It was rather boring and didn't answer the questions I still have. I wish they would quit the negative stuff and spend their entire 2 minutes per question-getting into the 'meat of things' and really give us the answers.

The townhall format didn't seem to give McCain much of an advantage. His biggest problem was that he wasn't very mavarick'y last night. He needed to go after Obama hard and he failed to do that.
I guess his plan is to just let Governor Palin do all the dirty work. I fail to see how this is a winning strategy (or is that a tactic).

Obama wins by not losing.
McCain loses by not having a momentum changing night.
Doesn't matter what Gene Veith, Rachel Maddow, Pat Buchanan, MSM or we think. How it changes the outcome of the election is all that matters. I did't see any momentum changing last night.

So, I didn't miss anything by reading a novel.
