Green campuses

The Princeton Review's annual guide to colleges will include an additional rating when it comes out this year-a green rating.

Colleges will get points for things like:  “environmentally preferable food,” power from renewable sources and energy-efficient buildings.

And, I assume, a good recycling program.

What is "environmentally preferable food"?

Most of the attributes for this type of food are found in the packaging, including,

  • Biodegradable
  • Energy efficient
  • Recyclable
  • Recycled-content
  • Reusable
  • Water efficient

According to a New York Times story, "Green is good for the planet, but also for a college’s public image. In a Princeton Review survey this year of 10,300 college applicants, 63 percent said that a college’s commitment to the environment could affect their decision to go there."

Sashia's wine bar on Demun now offers biodegradeable go boxes. Ask the next restaurant your at to get rid of the styraphom containers.
