VW green coming to a dealer near you-maybe

Volkswagen is said to be sending over to this country a batch of their new Jetta TID's, a new sportswagen that many hope will be a nice alternative to the current crop of hybrids from Toyota.

VW also has a prototype which has that space age look we all saw in grade school Weekly Readers in years past.  Or maybe it was on the Jetsons.  The new car is a VW 1L which could hit the U.S. market in 2010.   "The VW 1L is so named because, in theory, it only consumes one liter of fuel per 100 kilometers traveled. For those of us in the US, this translates into about 235 MPG."

235 MPG!  We're in line to check this out.

Pictures of the car look like you may have a hard time realizing that 235 mpg. One trip across the popular street bridge and my guess is your VW1L would be run over by a big truck or suv.
