Ferdie to Bob

  • Boojferd
Dear Bob, here are some photos of my life here on the campus of Concordia Seminary. I love kids, working with the grounds crew, swimming, playing with my dog friends, and especially my own family people.

The comments section of the BND has turned into the absolute bottom of public discussion.

The comments are distasteful, childish and add nothing to a meanifull dialogue. I avoid reading any of the comments and view them as a waste time.
That said. I would like to know, if the city has responded to the school district with information they promised and have they have reached out to the Township, Township Road Supervisor and Library districts, with a response to the letters sent to the city by each of them over their concern about receiving tax revenues.
Maybe, the city doesn't have all he information, but at least a letter of acknowledgement would seem appropriate and professional. "What we have hear is failure to communicate" It appears to be one sided failure at this time.

I disagree with a lot of things coming out of city hall these days. However, I also do not endorse or support the name calling and rude comments that people feel compelled to post in the BND (or on this board). I happen to agree with the content of BND editorial and find many of the revenue sources in this budget to be highly questionable, especially the $300K in building permits from the soccer stadium development when the league doesn't appear remotely close to naming St. Louis or Philly as team #16. I also wonder how accurate their revenue numbers are in regards to the home rule sales tax. I have no problem with adding additonal police officers or firefighters, but adding other administrative positions at this time would seem to me to be unwise.

I wouldn't say that MLS is that far from naming one city or the other. Philly seems in the lead though, simply because MLS wants them more than Collinsville. If Philly has all of their financing in place by the end of the year I believe they will be awarded the team. We may be offered a spot the following year, but that is a lifetime away in local politics.

I have read that at least a portion of the development will be put in, regardless of whether a stadium is built. Perhaps the retail and commercial aspects. I think that was in the Collinsville Herald.
