Let's be Blunt
This is way too late, just impossibly way too late.
It is so late the story makes me want to scream in frustration.
Where have these two been?

Yes let's be blunt. The transportation trustees in MO are terrible. Their priorities are wrong as they favor truckers and automobile drivers to extremes. Cooperation is a rare commodity in the StL area. With an excessive amount of governmental units, the negative fallout is obvious as the area continues to fall behind other major metropolitan areas.
Alternative modes of transportation, which would immediately relieve the congestion, polution, noise, etc., are ignored. East-West Gateway is an inadequate and less-than-accountable entity. This form of "top-down" governmental practices is a nightmare but common in the StL area.
As made clear by the New I64 plans, the region will be stuck with a poorly designed and poorly funded debacle. The result will be more pollution, more noise, more traffic, more accidents, higher insurance premiums, more sirens and more obesity. The lack of preparation and cooperation is obvious and will insure many problems for at least the next four years. Even worse, the plans lack vison and is largely devoid of what now is referred to as "best practices".
The years of public hearings were a charade and used not for their stated intent but to enlighten Hassinger and Hoffarth of political short cuts. The public will inevitably receive a deficient product and a lower quality of life.
