Crestwood library gets serious about those overdue books

Crestwood library trustees are now carrying badges complete with nice leather wallet type holders.  The board spent $602 for 7 badges and the mayor, Chester Stranczek is hopping mad.  "We have a library board right now that is not welcome in our village. I wish the law permitted us to have a recall election. We would throw them all out of office," Stranczek said.

This is one of the funniest stories about elected officials I have read in a long time.  How do the trustees plan to use these five pointed (probably gold) badges?  They won't say, at least they won't tell the local newspapers, the general public or the city council.

I guess showing a library offender an official looking badge might be scary enough to stop the problem, but these are trustees!  They don't even work in the library!  Everybody wants to look important is what it comes down to.  And a word of advice to the library trustees, that badge won't stop a state trooper from giving you a speeding ticket, in fact, it might be just enough to assure you get one.
