If it weren't for blogs would you have heard about this?

One of the best things about the proliferation of blogs is the wealth of information just waiting to be tapped into.  Any subject you want, there's most likely a blog discussing it.  Politics is covered like shrink wrap on processed food, everyone knows that, even cable news reporters.  But do you want your religion blogged?  By denomination?  Or in general?  You got em'.  Sports?  Too many to count.  Cooking?  Wine?  Stick a knife in it, they're bakin'.  States?  oh yeah.  Humor, now that's funny...and so are they.  Pets?  Pick one.

Which brings me to the original point.  You pick up pieces of information by trolling the blogosphere that you might not have learned anywhere else, or else hear of it on cable news a couple of days later.  Which means the cable news folks are trolling blogs for news too, not just relying on the AP.

March 15 is the third annual "International Eat an Animal for PETA" day.  (PETA stands for: "People for the ethical treatment of animals" and has as its web site banner this slogan: Animals are not ours to eat. ) The alternative to PETA was created in reaction to some of the disgusting rhetoric put out by PETA over the years, especially the vegetarian PETA's who likened the slaughter of animals (cattle, hogs, etc) to the slaughter of Jews during the German holocaust. 

And so the International Eat an Animal for PETA day is promoting steak on March 15.  Or chicken  Or pork chops.  Like I said, where else will you find tasty news items like this?  Via Wizbang   And Michelle is going to be putting up recipes.
